UTB/TSC Bridge Track
The Bridge Project is an exciting new program that brings together the University of Utah and the University of Texas at Brownsville through the Biomedical Informatics Department at Utah.
Qualified candidates begin their Masters research at UTB working with an outstanding faculty from diverse disciplines that offer students a wide variety of options for course work, research projects, and interdisciplinary training.
Under the auspices of Dr. Luis Colom (Director of the Center for Biomedical Studies), the BMI Masters program consists of four tracks, requiring at the
minimum:
- 30 credit hours of course work
- 6 credit hours of research
- Thesis (written)
The four Masters program tracks are:
- Biology under Dr. Saraswathy Nair
- Computer Science under Dr. Lappoon Tang
- Mathematics under Dr. Jerzy Mogilsky
- Physics under Dr. Natalia Guevara
Curricula for all four tracks includes prerequisite courses for entry into the University of Utah Department of BMI PhD program. PhD candidates should be well versed in the areas of:
- Computer Programming
- Database Management
- Statistics Molecular Biology
- Genetics
Also included are six semester hours of University of Utah BMI “core courses.”
